My name is Dal and I live in the far west of Cornwall in England's most westerly town, St Just with my little family plus dog and a cat.
I was inspired to make raw chocolate because like many people I love chocolate. However most of the chocolate bought in supermarkets is little more than sugar, fat and flavourings with very little cocoa content. Mass produced and mass consumed, chocolate has become synonymous with bad diet and junk food.
I was inspired to make raw chocolate after working for the NHS in mental health. We wanted to show our clients how to make a chocolate that would retain all of the health benefits of cocoa, without the 'junk' added to it.
Since then I have dedicated myself to making a chocolate that uses only the best raw organic and fairtrade ingredients available, with 85% cocoa and 15% natural fruit sugar. I make the chocolate in small batches by hand at my kitchen in st just.
Other than making chocolate, I love living in this beautiful part of the world, with its granite outcrops, sub tropical climate and plants and stunning beaches and ocean. I surf, swim and cycle regularly in this beautiful landscape of West Conrwall. I'm also a keen musician and play in an Afro Latin Jazz band. I am also blessed to have a young daughter and I am loving sharing her discovery of this beautiful land together.
